CULTIVATION THEORIES

Cultivation theory suggests that exposure to television, over time, subtly “cultivates” viewers' perceptions of reality. Heavy TV viewing creates an exaggerated belief in a “mean and scary world.”
For example, the film “Harry Potter” is a completely fiction. When I was 13, I actually believed that it was real. I wanted to fly on broomsticks just like they did in the film. Also, I was not the only one who felt this way. Most children all around the worlds perceive the message differently. They tend to think this fictional movie can be applied to real life situations and that is wrong.
