During my lecture, I learned about SEMIOTICS which mean "signs of science". We were given a picture and had to illustrate it. We had to explain what we are reminded of when we see that picture. And then our lecturer made us watch the movie Baraka a film by Ron Fricke, is a completery non-verbal, non-story, non-acted cinematic experience that shows the evolution of the planet and its mankind and write the SEMIOTICS. Below shows the semiotics of Baraka.
The First chapter showed nature that is untouched by man, people doing some rituals and moves on to a world that is conquered by technology, changing human interaction with nature. It also shows chaos and madness caused by humans which causes massive destruction. It tells us that in the end, mankind causes itself to be obsolete. The film in simple terms, shows the unbiased world in its glory and sadness. There is also a surprising connection between various people at different places and time, which is no coincidence. There is clearly a higher power involved. This represents the fact that everyone is equal and no one is superior than another person. The film takes you on a journey to see breathtaking images of the world, built by nature and man, combined with music and sounds that are alternately intense and serene.
It is worth watching as the cinematography was a definite masterpiece.
